Connect and use an external barcode scanner with Mobile Inventory when you want faster scanning than the built-in camera flow.
Before you scan
- Pair the external barcode scanner with the device by Bluetooth or cable.
- Make sure a PRO license is active.
- Configure the scanner as an HID keyboard device.
- Configure the scanner to send a newline or Enter after each barcode.
Connect and scan
- Pair the external barcode scanner with the mobile device.
- Open the inventory you want to work with.
- Scan the barcode with the external scanner.
What happens in each screen
| Screen | Result |
|---|---|
| Products list | If the barcode exists, the product is identified and the app opens the input area. If the barcode is missing, the app creates a new product with the scanned barcode. |
| Product area -> Details | The scanned barcode is added to the product barcode field. |
| Product area -> Add entry / Counter | If the barcode exists, the app switches to the matching product. If it does not exist, the app creates a new product with the scanned barcode. |
Notes
- Most scanners already send a newline or Enter suffix by default, but check the scanner manual if scanning does not trigger the expected action.
- The same scanner can behave differently depending on the app screen you are using.
