Obiectiv principal
Use Count from Image to count visible objects from a photo, review the AI result, and save the final number on a stock transaction.
Count from Image brings photo-based object counting into the transaction form. Users take or upload a photo, Mobile Inventory counts the most relevant visible objects with AI, and the reviewed count becomes the transaction quantity.
Experimental feature
Count from Image is experimental and is free to use for now while we evaluate it. We have not decided whether it will remain available or which license will include it in the future.
Before you startField setup / Internet / Photo quality
- Custom field: Count from Image is a Transaction field. Add it once to the inventory before users count from photos.
- One field per inventory: Each inventory can have only 1 Count from Image transaction field.
- Internet connection: The photo is processed online by the AI counting service, so counting does not work offline.
- Image choice: Use a clear photo with one main object type visible, such as boxes, bottles, pipes, packages, or parts.
- ZapCount account: The Mobile Inventory integration does not require a separate ZapCount account or ZapCount credits for this experimental release.

Count from the mobile app
Mobile app quick path
Save a reviewed photo count
- Open the product and start the stock entry, output, movement, or stock count where the quantity should be recorded.
- In the Count from Image field, tap Count from image.
- Take a new photo with the camera, or choose an existing image from the gallery or file picker.
- Wait while Mobile Inventory prepares the image, detects the object, and counts it with AI.
- On the Review count screen, check the detected object name, counted total, and point overlay.
- Use Add, Erase, Undo, Show points, and the confidence control to correct the points if needed.
- Tap Yes, save (count) to return the reviewed count to the transaction form.
- Choose IN, OUT, or MOVE, then tap SAVE to save the transaction.
- Open History, confirm the saved transaction includes the Count from Image thumbnail, and tap the image to reopen the saved photo and points.
Saving the reviewed count fills the transaction quantity. After you save the transaction, History keeps the Count from Image thumbnail so the photo, object name, count, confidence setting, and accepted points can be reviewed later.

Review and correct the result
Review controls
- Detected object
- Mobile Inventory fills this from the image. Change the object name and use Recount when the AI picked the wrong object type.
- Counted total
- This is the current accepted point count. It updates when you add points, erase points, undo edits, or change the confidence threshold.
- Points
- Each point marks an object included in the count. Hide points temporarily when you need to inspect the original photo.
- Confidence
- Raise the threshold to hide lower-confidence points. Lower it when the AI found valid objects but marked them with lower confidence.
- Highlight what needs counting
- On Web, use this when the image contains extra objects or background detail. Select the object or area to count, then recount.
What is saved
- The transaction quantity is filled with the final reviewed count.
- The Count from Image field stores the original image, the detected object name, the final count, the confidence threshold, and the latest accepted points.
- The saved thumbnail can be opened later to review or edit the count again.
- Exports show the count together with the image reference instead of raw technical JSON.
Accuracy and limitsBest results / High counts / Hidden objects
- Always review the points before saving. AI counting is a helper, not a replacement for user verification.
- Count one main object type per photo. Mixed piles with several object types are harder to count reliably.
- Objects that are hidden, heavily overlapping, blurry, or cut off by the image edge may be missed.
- If the photo contains more than about 890 objects, Mobile Inventory warns that the result may be incomplete because the AI counts up to about 900 objects per image.
- For dense or high-count scenes, take several smaller photos and save separate transactions when that matches your workflow.
Check the saved transaction
After saving, confirm that the transaction quantity matches the reviewed count and that the Count from Image thumbnail opens the same photo with the saved points.
