Adding custom fields

Our app comes with several standard fields commonly used in inventory management:

  • SKU
  • Barcode
  • Category
  • Unit of Measurement
  • Book Quantity
  • Location
  • and others..

Custom Fields – allow you to add your own fields tailored to your specific requirements.

Types of Custom Fields

There are two distinct types of custom fields in Mobile Inventory:

1. Product Fields

These fields are associated with specific products and store product-specific information.

Examples:

  • Color
  • Size
  • Material
  • Dimensions
  • Manufacturer

2. Entry Fields

These fields are associated with inventory transactions (inputs, outputs, movements, while counting your inventory) and capture transaction-specific details.

Examples:

  • Supplier
  • Client
  • Invoice Number
  • Purchase Order Number
  • Delivery Date

Where to Create Custom Fields

You can create custom fields from different locations:

  1. Manage Fields Screen
    • First screen -> Select your inventory -> Top-left menu -> Custom fields
  2. During Product Import
    • When importing a product list, you can define product custom fields during the verification step.
  3. In Product Details
    • Navigate to the Details tab of any product to add product custom fields.
  4. During Inventory Transactions
    • When adding entries or performing counts, access the Add Entry/Counter tab to create entry custom fields.

How to Use Custom Fields

Once created, custom fields work just like standard fields in Mobile Inventory:

  • Add Values: Enter custom field values in product details or during inventory transactions.
  • Display in Lists: Configure your products list screen to show custom fields (see how to change display settings).
  • Include in Reports: Custom fields will appear in exported reports and data extracts.
  • Search and Filter: Use custom fields in search operations and filtering criteria.

Best Practices

  • Create only the custom fields you regularly use to avoid cluttering your interface.
  • Use clear, consistent naming conventions for your custom fields.
