Use the NFC product field to read tags, write tag values, and identify products with NFC-enabled devices.

Requirements

  • Use an Android device with NFC support.
  • Turn NFC on in the device settings.
  • Tag your products with NFC tags.
  • Format the NFC tags as NDEF.

You can read from a tag into the NFC field, write a supported field value to a tag, or identify a product by holding the device close to the tag.

Ways to fill the NFC field

  • Import NFC values from a spreadsheet. See Import products.
  • Read the NFC value directly from a tag into the product field.
  • Write the current field value to a compatible tag.

Read from or write to a tag

  1. Open the product and go to the Details tab.
  2. Tap the NFC button.
  3. Choose Read from tag into field or Write to tag from field.
  4. Hold the device close to the tag until the action finishes.

Fields you can write to a tag

When you write a value to a compatible tag, you can use the dedicated NFC field or another supported field such as SKU, Barcode, or Product name.

Identify a product with NFC

  • Hold the device close to the tag from the Products list to identify the matching product quickly.
  • You can also scan the tag from inside the product area.
